COFFEE

why the hell it is so expensive here? You guys grow it on the back yard, but still a cup of cappuccino has the same price as in Sweden!! well, not really the same, but very comparable. An espresso in a relatively OK place (a place where you can be somewhat sure that what you will get will be coffee) is about 55 Baht which is about 15 sek. An express at The Daily Dose is 10 sek!!! btw check out the place

I'm not talking about cappuccinos which usually start from 65 Baht! Crazy! one can have a decent lunch for 70 Baht!!! I think it is mostly for tourists, no self-respecting Thai person will be drinking hot cappuccino, they all go around with some strangely colored liquids in their full of ice and some jelly stuff grasses.

ATM

I only found out here that ATM will charge me from 200 to 250 Baht for withdrawal, insane - I could have had 3 cappuccinos instead! That amount makes you think twice how much money to withdraw and calculate carefully.

I know - it is my bad that I didn't check in advance, but we only spend in Thailand 15 days so it should be fine.

but still, WTH Thai banks, make your money some other way!

Traffic

Well lack of driving rules is no surprice in Asia, but I started feeling it now when we have to navigate the streets with a baby stroller. First of all there is no space on the side of the road for people to walk. In many places you literally walking on the driveway. Sometimes you have to walk around the parked cars which are parked on the road, so when you walk around it you might be literally in the middle of the road! It is not fun with a stroller. we have lights blinking all around it to be as visible as possible but still there is some fear. Another thing is crossing the road - there is no traffic light for pedestrians (I haven't seen one yet). Even if there is a light for cars a pedestrian has to guess when to walk and when to not. The locals never guess, they just walk, but again, it is superscary with the stroller. A lot of head turning and double-checking and we shall be fine.

don't pay attention to this post too much, it is just things I noticed and didn't like so much. I will write one where i mention things I like - they overweigh the negatives :)

cheers!
