In Patong we stayed at the Frutta Boutique Hotel and I thought to write a review about that.

The Frutta Boutique

I have to say that I was not involved in the selection process of the locations (thank God), Alena did all the hard work choosing the places. Frutta Boutique was a great choice!! It was the second place we were staying at on Phuket and it was much better than the first one.

this is the room we had another angle

Key points about the room (what i liked very subjective):

keep in mind that I evaluate the room from a family with 1yo child perspective

  • room size was just right (there was plenty of space for Alisa to run around)
  • the room was quite child-safe, except two opening drawers and a safe with buttons which were constantly pushed
  • the bed was very large and quite hard (I like it)
  • the shower was great - perfect size and everything was working. Plenty of space to have a good shower and wash the baby
  • the view was good (we stayed on floor 5, room 256), we had the view of the city and i consider it a better view than a wall
  • the swimmingpool was small, just for relaxing time but also it was perfect for the baby swim
  • there was TV which was modern enough to play video from USB stick and videos of 'fancy' formats .mkv (there were also a few options to watch a lot of movies but we didn't investigate)
  • there was a small fridge, water cooker, 2 bottles of water every day and coffee powder
  • the hotel offered motorbike rent on OK prices and taxi services within the town (we used them a couple of times).
  • the location is good - about 25 min walk from the Jungceylon shopping mall where we spent hot daytime and about same distance from the beach.
  • good breakfast! it was well enough for us to last until 2-3pm, we still had to go for lunch somewhere at around 12 because we had to feed the baby.
  • the staff is always friendly in Asia, if you check in at a hotel and staff is not friendly... RUN!!!

A few not so positive points (not deal breakers for us though):

  • the internet in the room was non-existent, it was working only in one corner by the door :)
  • the sink was in the living-room, which is not bad, but had to be extra-careful when the baby was sleeping.
  • the room was NOT SOUNDPROOF, a few times I had to double check if I left the window open or something. The window was shut and still a lot of noise from the street (the street is very close and is quite busy). I didn't mind it at all - I can sleep through anything - the baby was also fine.
  • A mosque is very close so if you sleep light then you will be awaken at 5-ish am for a prayer - never happened to me, but a few days I was awake at that time so I heard 'the call'.
  • the placing of air-condition unit right over the bed is not something I enjoy. It is hard to figure out the setting so it doesn't blow on you cold air and you wake up with a cold. It took us 2 nights to figure out the best setting.

Overall I am very happy with our stay at the hotel and even though it doesn't look as pretty right now as it is on the promo pictures (but which one does?) it is still taken care of and people seem to enjoy their work there, so the time we spent there was quite good.
