Alena spent some time investigating which stroller we should have with us in Asia. We had a few requirements (based on tips from our friend who spent some time in warm countries with a little baby). The stroller should be:
- very maneuverable to avoid bit pits and wholes in the road (Asia is not famous for its great sidewalks)
- sturdy, not break after a few weeks
- go places (big, rubber wheels with air)
- quite compact (for transportability)
- have a flat bed for baby naps
- price - not too expensive
I think Alena found the best option.
it's a north 13.5 maxi jogger.
It has almost everything we needed!
A few negative points i found so far.
- it seems a bit wobbly - not very sturdy (at least by the feel of it), but we didn't have any issues with it.
- it makes some noise. Some squeaky noises are coming out of it. But I guess it is because it is mostly plastic.
- it is a bit too hot for the summer, but we are thinking of remaking the fabric part of it.
- the sun protection is not very good - we have to use additional umbrella
But the positives overweight the negatives. It is very maneuverable - the single front wheel makes it very easy to navigate.
It seems quite big and bulky but it folds quite nicely. Once we saw surprice on the taxi driver's face when I was folding the stroller and taking it apart so it can fit already full car trunk. I once attempted to ride a motorbike with the folded stroller and it was possible but we never had to do it on the road.
The stroller has big rubber wheels with air which makes it go places like very close to the water on sandy beaches. I never had to carry it.
It has a lot of space to store stuff under the seat. Quite useful when going shopping to some big mall
The baby seems to be quite comfy in there, and when sleeptime comes the stroller's bed can assume almost horizontal position.
I am not sure how long the breaks will survive though, they seem a bit too plastic-ky
Overall it's a great stroller for the job and I am glad we have it. I wish it was easier transportable by motorbike because now we have to use taxi to go somewhere at noon because Alisa will want to take a nap and we have nowhere to put her when going somewhere with moto.
