The last place we stayed at on Phuket was "Chill house". The pictures were great and the reviews were good. ## the location ## The hotel is located in the north part of the island and is super-close to the airport. You can hear the planes taking off sometimes, when you are outside of the building. The distance to the beach is very walkable and there is a local market just almost across the road. ## the hotel ## Overall the hotel is good, just a common-nothing-special-vacation-hotel-in-thailand. Rooms are OK in size but not enough room for the baby to run around. The building seems to be new and fresh. ### subjective experience ### Once we checked in we were told that there is no elevator (and hotel has 3 floors), so we were offered to stay on ground floor or 2nd floor. Since we have baby stroller, we didn't want to carry it at least twice/day up the stairs to the second floor, so we picked the ground floor room (spoiler: big mistake :) ). The room was **106** and it is facing the road... **noise in the room** since the room is facing the road you would expect to hear noise from the road at night, but NO, you can't hear the road because there is a huge restaurant between your balcony and the road. Your balcony (window) is facing back wall of the restaurant. And that wall is not 100% up to the roof, so you can see people cooking there and you hear a lot of chopping sounds and sometime local folklore songs performed by the cooks. It is in general OK for us, unless we are trying to put Alisa to sleep. I even wonder why the hell there is a balcony there, they should have extended the room! the balcony is tiny so you can't sit there and even if you could what view would you enjoy? of a wall? To understand the wall is so close you can literally shake hand of a restaurant cook. It would be an amazing way to deliver breakfast to the room in the morning but the restaurant belongs to another hotel. ![](balcony.jpg) ** shower in the room ** is another negative thing for us that the shower head was fixed overhead and it caused some difficulties when we needed to wash Alisa. It is not bad, if not for the baby-wash I would actually like it. ** Aircondition unit!** As always we hate it when it just blows over you when you sleep and there was no way we could configure it. We left the hotel still not knowing how the hell does it work. Sometimes I put up temperature up to 28 degrees and it was still blowing ice-cold air. ** Breakfast is a ... ** surprise every day. First day we got there I didn't like the breakfast so much. It was OK breakfast I was just spoiled by the Frutta Boutique's breakie with a lot of fruit options, dishes, eggs, coffee etc. First day at Chill house we got a toast with 2 slices of bacon and a piece of fruit. But breakfast changes every day and is freshly cooked so I actually like it more overall. It is nice to have new, different breakfast every day - great touch, Chill house. ** Overall experience ** was good. If I would rate the hotel objectively I would give it a 4 out of 5. The staff seemed to care and was very friendly. We were unlucky to get in a 'bad' (for us) room, but i'm sure if we would ask for it they would move us somewhere else. We never asked as the noise wasn't really a problem for Alisa and we never sit on a balcony anyway. And sometime the folklore songs were quite good! :) I am a bit more picky now because I have been experiencing 2 other hotels within a very short time and we pay super-high attention to the baby-friendliness of the hotel. Chill house was not very baby friendly. There were a lot of spots Alisa banged her head in the room so we had to become inventive. But I guess baby-friendliness was never a goal for the hotel otherwise they are doing a good job!
